For this training seminar for Houston high school teachers, I guided a city bus tour of sites relating to African American history, based on my own research in Houston history. This seminar was a federally funded joint project of the Region IV Education Service Center and the College of Education and Department of History at the University of Houston.

tour, based on my own research in Houston history. This
seminar was a federally funded joint project of the Region IV Education
Service Center and the College of Education and Department of History
at the University of Houston.
1994-1995 Instructor for Continuing Education Women's Studies Course
For a short continuing education course, I designed and presented a lecture series based on biographies by and about women. The series comprised 3 lectures of 1-1/2 hours each. I taught this course in various venues in Houston, including Houston Leisure Learning and Houston Community College Continuing Education.

1984-2003: Systems Analyst, Shell Information Technology International, Houston, TX
I evaluated, implemented, and supported data communications software products and services for the corporate LAN environment. I implemented various technologies, including Microsoft Exchange, BlackBerry wireless communications, VMS TCP/IP and DECNET networks, IBM Series/1 networks.
My responsibilities included:
- Planning and managing deployment of new technologies to the Production environment within the Shell companies

Installing and testing new software products: I reviewed products in the light of customer requirements for functionality, cost and performance, as well as corporate standards for software administration and security.
- Influencing vendor decisions about product functionality,
performance and presentation, based on corporate expectations and
requirements
- Designing tutorials and training Operations and Technical Customer Support staff in support of the technologies that I deployed
- Ensuring that new technology implementations satisfied customer service level agreements
