Biography 

Harold J. Haynes holds the B.A., B.F.A., and M.A. degrees.  He has studied at Prairie View A&M University, University of Iowa, Texas Southern University, and the University of Houston.  He is a published writer of dramatic works, the Artistic Director and Founder of Encore Theatre, and an Instructor of English at Houston Community College Central.  His poetry class, in conjunction with Encore Theatre, has produced a CD of original poetry entitled "Poetry, The Music of The Soul," which was taped before a live audience.  Currently, he is working on a new work entitled "Driven."  This work explores a talented but ailing writer's quest to receive critical validation from his peers before he dies.  It is being written to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the founding of Encore Theatre.

Teaching Philosophy

 His philosophy of teaching is simple:  Set high expectations, make the material relevant, and challenge students to go as far as they can to achieve a level of excellence and self-fulfillment.
