Good sources for art supplies:

            Texas Art Supply            2001 Montrose and other locations

Drawing I and II:

vine charcoal (one plastic pack should have 5 pieces)  soft or medium

Char-Kole (one box!)

1 charcoal pencil (General brand, 4B is a good one)

1 Ebony pencil

graphite stick

pencils: 2B (medium), 4B (soft), 6B (extra soft), and HB (hard)

black, sanquine, and white conte (2 each)

large kneaded eraser

large art gum eraser

pink pearl eraser

Sharpie fine-point felt-tip marker, black

black India ink

bamboo brush (size 6 Sumi is good)

pad of Newsprint, 18 x 24", rough texture

pad of heavyweight drawing paper, 18 x 24", Pro-Art 100 is good

a few sheets of toned paper, 18 x 22", (Strathmore, Canson, Mitientes, Ingres...)

one roll drafting tape, or blue drawing/drafting tape

rag

2 huge bull-dog clips

1 can fixative spray for charcoal and pastel

sketchbook, spiral or hard bound, 100 pages, at least 8 x 10"

portfolio:  learn how to make one in class, or buy one

3 empty jars with lids or several paper cups

 

Drawing II:

You do not need to purchase the newsprint listed above.

 

In addition to the items you may still have left over from your Drawing I class, please purchase the following:

 

Set of color media (24 set of soft pastels, or 24 set of Nu-pastel)

            Do not purchase oil pastel or colored pencils.

Cheap set of watercolor cakes from the children's art supplies section.

Several sheets of good paper-at least 18 x 22 or as large as possible.

One roll of black and white film, and the cost of developing…OR…access to a digital camera and printer.
